Before you buy
Checking a used Black Diamond
Same perimeter check as any foam injected paddle, and for the same reason: separation is internal, silent, and often feels like extra power before it feels like a fault. Tap slowly around the edge listening for a change in pitch. Face texture is the other half of the valuation and the half you can feel with a thumb. These are newer to the secondhand market than the Selkirk and JOOLA equivalents, so there is less settled pricing and more variance between listings, which rewards a buyer who knows what to check and punishes one who does not.
Someone who wants the Six Zero build without the DBD’s demands, and probably the most sensible first thermoformed paddle in the category. A good step up from a mid tier control paddle when you want pace but not a specialist.
