The genuine outlier in paddle construction: solid-span, with no conventional honeycomb core, and a feel players either immediately prefer or immediately reject. There is no middle ground with GearBox.

The usual core-failure checks do not apply, because there is no core in the usual sense — these survive abuse that would finish other paddles, and a used one is far less of a structural gamble than the category average. What you are grading is the face and the handle. The real question is fit rather than condition, which makes a second-hand CX11 the cheapest possible way to find out whether you are in the half that likes the feel.
Anyone curious about solid-span construction, and players who find conventional paddles vague at contact.
